Math homework will be sent home every Friday with a due date of the following Friday.  Homework may be in the form of a game to play at home or a story problem to solve.  Games sent home for homework we have already played in class, students will have experienced playing the games and know the rules.

Reading is another aspect of homework in First Grade.  To help students practice their reading strategies and become better readers, they are required to read for 15 minutes every school night.  Students will bring home a different book in a bag from their individual reading level every night along with a blue reading sheet.  Please read the book with your child and sign the blue reading sheet (add comments if needed).  The sheets are due every Monday as their reading homework.  Students must have at least 5 signatures recorded for homework.  If you have misplaced the reading record, there is a link below to print one.

Please contact us if you have any questions or concerns.

Classroom Basics

Students will have one math homework assignment per week, sent home on Friday and due the following Friday.

Reading logs will also be part of weekly homework for first grade.  Please read with your child daily and fill in the blue reading log.  The blue reading log will be due on Monday.

We have community snack in first grade around 9:45 a.m. Please send in a healthy snack item on your assigned day of each month for 26 students. Some examples would be a box of graham crackers, a bag of pretzels, popcorn, granola bars, or cheese crackers. We also have a refrigerator in one of the rooms for healthy items such as cheese sticks, carrots, go-gurt, etc.
