School update

Hello Falcons!!

Week 2 of the 23/24 school year was busy learning, assessing, and practicing safety procedures.  Pictured is our students returning to learning after practicing our first fire drill of the school year with the Fontana FD!  Thank you to all of our FD and PD partners that support our school each day! Here are FIVE things to know this week:

  1. As we head into the first semester of our school year there are many events that begin to pop up.  **Please note that any of these calendars can adjust throughout the year so please don't hesitate to double check with our office to confirm any event**The band/music/talent show dates are available HERE for fall/winter.  There will be more to share for spring soon.  Our PTSO event calendar is available HERE and anyone is welcome to volunteer and/or come and enjoy fun community events.  Lastly, our calendar on the website has many of the events and activities at Fontana.  This can be accessed on our main page "calendar" and there is an ability to click "see all events" that will  bring you to a year long calendar, which is linked HERE.
  2. Our students 2-8th grade completed their benchmark testing this past week on I-Ready for math and reading.  These scores are used by our teaching staff to individualize their learning, boost learning in areas of need, and extend areas of strength.  Students are able to access their I-Ready learning anywhere and includes individualized learning plans.  Thank you for having your Falcon at school and ready to learn each day!!
  3. Our fall sports season is underway and we have already completed two cross country meets and our first flag football game.
  4. Fall and the new school year is a great time to catch some new Falcon Gear.  Don't miss our very own customizable spirit store linked HERE and also available from our website.  A portion of sales will go back to support student programs throughout the school year.
  5. We are looking to get our Drone Club up and running in the next few weeks.  We will have drone club on two Friday's per month from 3:30p to 4:30p and we would like to have as many community/parents interested in helping support this program with our staff.  If interested, no experience necessary, please email Mr. Torrez at storrez@fontana.k12.wi.us for more information.  We hope to extend our filming, photo capturing, and drone racing this year!!
  6. BONUS--We are excited to offer a community wide opportunity for anyone interested in wellness, exercise, or nutrition.  Our staff have worked with Thrive Wellness Coaching and Consulting this past year and we are excited to extend this great opportunity to our entire community.  More details HERE. Don't miss our first community wide exercise class starting September 18th at 4pm.

Have a great weekend Falcons and see you Monday ready for learning!
