Klay Kong

Hello Falcons!!

Week 26 was filled with excitement and thrilling "firsts" with the Klay Kong movie premier. So much happening at Fontana this past week and busy weeks ahead! Here are FIVE things to know this week:

  1. Klay Kong made a very successful debut this weekend at the Fontana Box Office. The seats were filled, laughter and cheer was plenty, and popcorn aroma was spread about. Congratulations to our students, staff, and community for a fantastic movie making experience. Thank you for Mr. McCanna for the idea to shift our traditional art club to include movie making, film, and editing along with art.

  2. Thank you to all of our families and staff for making our student learning a priority though parent teacher conferences the past two weeks. It is always great to have families in the building and connecting with our families is a priority for our success.

  3. Looking ahead, we have our traditional Fine Arts Night on Thursday, March 14th. Doors open at 5:30p. Come and check out the great art and creativity by our students. Performances by the choir and bands as well.

  4. Spring break is quickly approaching. We are off for spring break the week of March 25th and our first day back to school is Monday, April 1st. Get the sun block out and enjoy your week off Falcons!

  5. Did you know Fontana has a Hope Squad in our middle school. A Hope Squad is a group nominated by their peers. They meet regularly with trained advisors to talk and learn about mental health. Members are trained to note signs of distress and reach out, connecting peers to help and hope. Hope Squads interact with and educate the entire student body to reduce stigma and change their community's culture.

  6. Bonus--We have tentatively scheduled our 3rd Annual Walk for Wellness for May 17th. This year we plan to have our walk during the school day to engage our entire school in wellness. More details to come soon, but mark your calendars for May 17th. We will once again raise money for Bigger Than the Trail, a not-for-profit organization focused on physical and mental health!

Your overall health and mental health are vital to overall success and wellness. Be well Falcons and enjoy your weekend. See you Monday.
