Update

Hello Falcons,

Our 28th week in school has brought about many reflective moments as this marks the one year point of coping with the COVID pandemic.  To think about where we were as a school, country, world 12 months ago and where we are now,  it is amazing to think we are now 28 weeks into a new school year.  Our Fontana community has been beyond wonderful and despite the challenging times, we have so much to be thankful for this year.  Here are FIVE things to know this week:

  1. Our track and field season is a GO and more information will be coming out by Wednesday.  Practices are tentatively set to begin in April.  We can't wait to compete on the new track facility at Big Foot High School and get our students active in extracurricular activities.
  2. We are celebrating our 60th year of Outdoor Education this year!  Our staff are working diligently to finalize our plans for the spring experience.  Just like it started 60 years ago, OE will be returning full-time to 6th grade this spring. If you are interested in ordering some fancy OE gear please see the attachment HERE.  All orders can be turned into the main office by March 26th.
  3. We will have a busy summer with our library redesign that will include a "Fab Lab" designed for hands on learning, fabrication, and STEM projects.  We can't wait to see all the great new activities offered in our updated STEM areas.

  4. Our Early Childhood staff is working on some screening activities for incoming 4k and 5k students.  Be on the lookout for more information in the coming weeks.  If you have any questions about early childhood and 4k/5k enrollment please contact Steve Torrez (storrez@fontana.k12.wi.us).

  5. To give an idea of the day/life of a teacher during a pandemic our Falcon staff have tirelessly gone above and beyond.  We have found learning outside, in the hallway, in the gym, and anywhere that is safe with proper distancing.  Our teachers are working on/with carts, traveling miles a day from one space to another, and ensuring students in virtual, quarantine, vacation, classroom or anywhere else are provided their learning materials.  For parents, we understand there is extra time spent on work, online, and accommodating all the changes that have gone on in the last year.  THANK YOU to ALL!

Our past year has been challenging, and honestly, COVID hasn't been the most difficult thing some people have had to deal with.  Let's all take a moment this weekend to give an extra hug, give an extra thank you, and give an extra minute of relaxation or just unplug.  You earned it and we are thankful to be a part of this wonderful family called FONTANA!
