School update

Hello Falcons!!

Week 11 officially brought snow to our area, but that didn't stop our Talent Show participants (pictured) and our sports teams from enjoying some successful evening events.  Make sure your Falcon is properly dressed (snow pants, boots, hat/gloves) for the weather as we will have outdoor recess as long as the temperature is above 0 degrees.  Here are FIVE things to know this week:

  1. Thank you to Mrs. Bagby, Mr. Smith, and Ms. Christensen for organizing a fun and exciting Talent Show.  The performers and all of the participants did an amazing job.  The performances ranged from music, dancing, comedy, magic, martial arts, singing and so much more.  Great job!
  2. We would like to remind all families to keep an eye on health and wellness strategies.   There has been an increase in respiratory illness so far this winter.  Please read our health update HERE from our district nurse.
  3. The basketball team had a week full of games!  We even played a new opponent this year, Woods Elementary.  Both A and B teams ended up with a record of 2-1 for the week.  Next week we have only 1 game on Monday at home vs Sharon.  Come cheer for the Falcons before Thanksgiving break!  Reminder, there will not be any practice on Tuesday for basketball.
  4. Don't forget, our Falcon spirit store will be closing this Sunday.  You will not want to miss your chance to update or add to your Fontana gear!!  LINK HERE to order.
  5. The Yearbook and Directory Cover Art Contest is underway and submissions are coming in! Here are some pointers to remember:

    • It is crucial that a folder is used to transport the artwork between school and home. A heavily wrinkled or damaged entry cannot be used.
    • Remember to draw the picture with the paper "portrait oriented" or vertical.
    • Students should write their name and grade on the back in PENCIL, so it does not show through on the front of the paper.
    • Although Falcons are the school mascot, they are not required for students' designs.
    • Students should simply focus on their artwork, and not worry about writing out Fontana, yearbook, 2022-2023, etc. This can be done using a computer after the designs are chosen.
    • The contest submissions are due Wednesday, November 30th.
  6. (bonus)--Reminder next week is a short week due to the Thanksgiving Holiday break.  Monday and Tuesday are regular days.  Our Thanksgiving Break starts on Wednesday November 23rd and we return to school on Monday, November 28th.

Stay warm and enjoy your weekend Falcons!
