School update

Hello Falcons!!

Week 26 saw melting along with another snow storm.  Thank you to all families and community members for being patient and thoughtful with the weather decision making.  There can certainly be some anxious and wonder when it comes to impending weather and we are grateful for your grace as we work to keep our entire community safe.  Here are FIVE things to know this week:

  1. Pictured is our new Early Childhood Library located in the daycare wing of the school.  Did you know there is an abundance of research that finds...spending time together with your child, while reading aloud helps to create strong parent-child bonds and promotes healthy brain development. Children that are read to more often have improved language and listening skills, experience stronger emotional connections to their loved ones, and gain a lifelong love of reading.  Please take advantage of our little library, our larger library with more offerings coming soon.
  2. We couldn't be more proud of our school and staff that work so hard every day to provide the highest quality learning possible.  We were fortunate to share our STEM lab learning space with an interested school from Michigan this past week.  Additionally, we will be hosting some visitors to observe the great work being done in our early childhood classrooms.  This is an honor we do not take lightly, and it also provides motivation to continuously improve and learn together with schools from all over the area and the United States.
  3. Keep working hard with your efforts toward Jump Rope for Heart.  The kids have been so proud to share their keychains and other accomplishments.  Being healthy and establishing healthy lifestyle habits is so important.  More information HERE.
  4. We had a great experience at the Academic Bowl this past week where we had middle school students competing in multiple academic areas against other local school.  In the area of Current Events, our Falcons did so well we actually took first and second place!!  Way to go Falcons and keep up the great work.
  5. Hello Parents & Families! Thanks to our wonderful librarian Mrs. Gutierrez we have welcomed an Early Childhood Library cart to our center.   How it works is you and your child will pick one of our Fontana colored bags from the top of the cart and check out a book or few!!! I then ask that you write the book title and your initials or child's name to the clipboard check out sheet hanging above the cart.  When you return the book to the cart, write the date and pick out some more!!  Here are some links the discuss the importance of encouraging early literacy with our little ones:  https://dcf.wisconsin.gov/files/youngstar/pdf/familyliteracystrategies.pdf https://www.zerotothree.org/issue-areas/early-learning/ We are hopeful you will take advantage of this new program and enjoy the time reading to your child!! Let me know if you have any questions :)

We are heading into our final week before spring break!!  A lot of learning to take place before we leave for the week.  Keep up the great work and see you all Monday.
