School update

Hello Falcons!!

The final full week of the school year was filled with many opportunities and excitement for learning!!  Our middle school band participated again in the "Beyond the Notes" music festival in Wisconsin Dells (pictured).  Our band was there for the second consecutive year and, this year, our growing choir was added to the performances!!  Here are FIVE things to know this week:

  1. Our last day of school is this Friday, June 2nd.  This is an early release for our entire school (11:20a for all students 4k-8th grade) and (12p for all 3k and younger).  This provides our staff an opportunity to grade, clean, and prepare for summer.  We will also have staff recognitions in honor of our years of service and retirements.
  2. Our annual field day will be this Thursday, June 1st.  Please have your Falcon dressed for a day of outside activity and fun!!
  3. Our summer school will comprise of different options for all to take advantage of at Fontana.  We will be working in conjunction with the Fontana library and our staff to offer a "Summer of Continuous Excellence" where students of all ages will be challenged to read 50 minutes/week and complete/pass at least one 50 minute math lesson in I-ready each week.  More information, with dates attached HERE.  All five Tuesday's in June/July will provide fun, free books, and activities.  This is open to any community members, not just Fontana students.  Lastly, we are proposing a 23/24 school preparation program the first two weeks of August.  This academic and activity based summer school will provide a "kick off" for the 23/24 school year.
  4. We are excited to offer a community summer learning activity with Mack Glass.  This glass blowing course will be offered to 10 people (12 and older) at $275/person.  This will take place at Fontana School on Thursday's from 4-6pm on June 15, 22, 29 and July 13th where participants will learn the art of glass blowing and create materials they will be able to use, sell, and/or take with them at the end of the class.  For more information contact Rob Elliott (rob@mackglass.com) or Steve Torrez at (storrez@fontana.k12.wi.us).
  5. Our 8th graders will finish up this Tuesday!!  We are so excited to send off our Falcons to their next chapter of high school and beyond!!  Once a Falcon, Always a Falcon!!
  6. BONUS--Our 5/6 math meet team participated at the State level this past week after advancing past the first round.  They were able to compete against other schools from across the state on high school and higher level math!!  Way to go Falcons.

Have a great Memorial Day weekend and don't miss out on watching the Falcon Band in the Fontana parade on Monday starting at 10:30a!!  The parade goes through town from the post office and around Reid Park.
