School update

Hello Falcons!!

Happy second week of summer break!  Believe it or not, we have two weeks down of our summer break, but our school has been moving right along.  Big Foot Recreation started their summer camp this week and our hard working custodial/maintenance staff have been busy cleaning, updating, and maintaining our school.  Here are FIVE things to know this week:

  1. We had our first day of our summer reading/math program on Tuesday.  We had a good turn out of students attend and left with smiles, posters, prizes and time well spent learning.  Thank you for DNR Officer Mr. Brad Wilson for speaking to our group about water and boater safety.  We are excited to continue this Tuesday math/reading challenge for any community members, not just Falcons, who want to continue their excellence in the summer time.  This Tuesday, June 20th, we will have a magician and members of the Fontana Public Library at our school for fun and learning from 10a to 12p.  Be there!
  2. Thank you to Mack Glass, Jason, and Rob for getting our first ever glass blowing class off the ground this past Thursday.  Participants began their five week journey on making their very own glass creations!  If you missed, but still want to join, no worries, contact Rob at RobertTElliott1@gmail.com to get signed.  Don't miss this awesome opportunity!
  3. Our daycare is going great this summer and we continue to provide a high quality program for our community all year.  It is wonderful to see some of our littles here along with some new friends.  Great job Falcons!
  4. Summer school at Fontana will take place in a "boot camp" type format the first two weeks of August (starting July 31st).  More information to come in the next week with details.  We want to provide some time for our Falcons to prepare, catch up, or extend their learning before we kick off the 23/24 school year.  If you have any questions, please contact Steve Torrez at storrez@fontana.k12.wi.us
  5. ATTENTION incoming 6, 7, and 8th grade Falcons.  We have been provided some unique opportunities to support local businesses with our resources in the STEM Lab.  If you are interested in doing some projects on our 3D printers, laser cutters, and printers please contact Steve Torrez at storrez@fontana.k12.wi.us.  We are looking for up to 6 students from our incoming middle school to laser some coaster designs, make some key chains in the 3D printer, and work on a logo for our upcoming STEM projects.  If this sounds like fun to you then email storrez@fontana.k12.wi.us and we will get you started soon!  Hours can be flexible during typical school hours and arranged with Mr. Torrez and Mrs. Gutierrez.  Don't miss a great chance to learn about entrepreneurship and STEM careers while working directly with local vendors!

Have a great weekend Falcons and enjoy our beautiful Lakes area!!  Get outside and have some fun this summer Falcons!
