Falcon Friday Five

Hello Falcons!

Week 28 was our final week in March, which led us to our upcoming spring break. Mother Nature reminded us that snow can and does follow 70 degree weather and spring in the midwest. Here are FIVE things to know this week:

  1. We are currently in need of a part-time custodian to work 3-5 hours in the evening. The evening hours can range between 4-10p each night and works with another full time evening custodian. Please contact Steve Torrez at storrez@fontana.k12.wi.us or at 262-275-6881 ext. 205 for more information and/or interest. We are looking to have this position start as soon as possible.

  2. Starting school for your 3-5 year old can be difficult with many unknowns. We have a dedicated and knowledgeable team to help your family through this process. If you are looking for more information about early childhood and starting your child in 4k or 5k please connect with Steve Torrez (storrez@fontana.k12.wi.us) or Devin Dennis (ddennis@fontana.k12.wi.us) for more information. We are happy to schedule a tour, visit, and time with our early childhood team.

  3. The Open Enrollment window is open for another month. Open Enrollment is unique to Wisconsin allowing families to consider schools outside of their resident district. For more information about Open Enrollment you can contact Mrs. Wendy Schanau (wschanau@fontana.k12.wi.us) our OE specialist, or you can visit DPI's website HERE for more information.

  4. Thank you to Mr. Kevin Reckamp and Harvard Nursery for working with the 3rd grade for the annual maple syrup making unit. Mr. Reckamp takes the students all the through the maple syrup process from tapping the trees, collecting the sap, and boiling the sap for actual syrup. Along with the fantastic hands-on learning the students are always excited to try the syrup they made with a pancake celebration!!

  5. You don't want to miss our 3rd Annual Walk for Wellness on May 17th! in two short years we grew our participation rate from 20 to over 100 participants. All donations collected go to support Bigger Than the Trail, a not-for-profit organization aimed to help improve mental health. You are not alone, it's ok to not be ok sometimes, and there are great programs like BTTT that can help. Our first year, we raised a little over $1000, our second year we raised $2500, and we have set a goal to exceed $3000 this year!! The money raised the last two years is enough to provide services for an entire year for 2 people. We can keep raising the bar, raising awareness, and helping our community one step at a time!! See you May 17th at Duck Pond from 11:45p to 2:30p. Walk/run starts at 1pm.

  6. Reminder--There is no school for all 4k-8th grade students for spring break. We return to class on Monday, April 1st. Our Falcon Early Childhood Center (3k and younger) is open as usual this week.

Have a great spring break Falcons. Remember, we are on spring break and our first day back for students in Monday, April 1st.
