8th grade capstone

Hello Falcons!!

Week 38 of our 24/25 school year leaves us with two more weeks of school. It's hard to believe we are nearly done with another school year, but we have two more weeks to learn, grow, and finish strong! Here are FIVE things to know this week:

  1. We had a new Capstone project that had all 8th graders summarize and highlight their learning at Fontana. Students reviewed their strengths, attributes for success, and advice for future Falcons to be successful. A great part of this presentation was seeing who each 8th grader invited as their special guest, which included Mrs. Selvey, their kindergarten teacher, Mrs. Schanau in our business office, Mr. Scott in maintenance, and of course many middle school teachers!

  2. Our school board had their annual approval of open enrollment applications for the 25/26 school year on Monday. We will be sending out letters regarding open enrollment next steps this coming week. The next opportunity for open enrollment is the alternate open enrollment route, which opens July 1st, 2025.

  3. Thank you to all of our families, staff, and community partners who came to our 4th annual Falcons Walk for Wellness on Friday at Duck Pond. We had over 60 people in attendance to walk and raise awareness for mental health/wellness. Last year we reached our goal of $2,500.00 which provided nearly 13 months of mental health services for someone in need! We are hoping to exceed that this year! We are currently at $2510 for this year and we can still collect any last minute donations at school this coming week!

  4. We do not have school this Monday, May 26th in honor of the Memorial Day Holiday! See you on Tuesday, May 27th.

  5. We are excited to send off our 8th graders to high school this Thursday, May 29th at our annual 8th grade promotion ceremony.

PTSO Spotlight--Save the date!  On the last day of school, Friday, June 6, Fontana families will receive free admission to the Fontana Beach. This is a great opportunity to spend time with friends and family to celebrate the end of the school year.

Have a great extended holiday weekend Falcons and see you all Tuesday, May 27th!
