Hello Falcons!!
The sixth week of our school year included homecoming spirit days, the kick off to our volleyball season, and our fall benchmark testing for the elementary students to name a few events. Fall weather has decided to show up this week, which is a good reminder to dress your falcon in weather appropriate clothing. We go outside for recess each day unless it's raining or below zero. Here are FIVE things to know this week:
Congratulations to 4th grade student Grace Booth who was selected as a finalist in her age category in the American Kennel Club National Art Contest! The contest called on artists between the ages of 5 and 18 to create "artwork that captivates the spirit and excitement of dogs proudly showcasing their unique traits, talents, and charm." Grace's artwork is currently featured in the AKC online exhibition and can be viewed by clicking on the finalists tab. Kudos to Grace and thank you to all the students who participated in this creative opportunity!
Our K-5 students completed benchmark testing (done 3 times in fall/winter/spring) to track progress and growth for all students. As a result of Act 20, enacted by the Department of Public Instruction (DPI) in 2024, K-3 students that benchmark below the 25th percentile require a person reading plan that supports growth. The determination for a personal reading plan in K-1 is the Aimsweb composite score below 25th percentile and 2-3rd grade determination is below the 25th percentile in oral reading fluency on Aimsweb. The students that fall below the 25th percentile will be assigned a plan that will be supported by the teacher and intervention staff. Parents will be notified and included in all personal reading plans.
Don't miss our first round of parent/teacher conferences this coming week. Our goal is to meet/contact all 211 families to review student progress and goals moving forward. Our conferences on Thursday, October 16th from 4-8pm and Friday, October 17th from 12:30-4pm. See you there!
Friday, October 17th is an early release day for all 4k-8th grade students. Our early release time is 11:45am.
