Hello Falcons!!

We have now completed week 23 of the school year. Our middle school and early elementary teams have been working on benchmark testing for the winter during the last week. We benchmark (standardized tests to track progress/growth) three times per year. Our staff use this data to reflect, adjust, and individualize the education of each student at Fontana. Here are FIVE things to know this week:

  1. This year, for our annual Southern Lakes Anthology Contest, students were challenged to create works of art or writing centered on the theme "The Journey". 3rd through 8th grade students created artwork, poetry, short stories, cartoons and more, which would be selected by Fontana staff, and then judged at Whitewater. The process is very selective, with students' work being scored on clarity, originality, technical skill, and overall quality. This year, we had 13 Fontana students accepted!  Way to go Falcons!!

  2. Don't miss some family fun while supporting our PTSO this Sunday, February 1st from 1-5p at the Delavan Lanes Bowling Alley.  Bowling Sign-up LINK HERE Additionally, we have a ton of amazing auction items. You don't have to be present to win the auction. AUCTION LINK HERE to bid.

  3. This Monday, February 2nd, will mark the first day of the OPEN ENROLLMENT period for the 26/27 school year. This is for NEW families/students to Fontana and is not required for existing open enrolled Fontana students. DPI has a press release HERE Our open enrollment specialist at Fontana is Mrs. Wendy Schanau and she can be reached at wschanau@fontana.k12.wi.us or 262-275-6881 ext. 201 for more information.

  4. We are grateful for the Lake Geneva YMCA, who helps partner with local schools to allow 2nd grade students access to swim lessons and water safety. Our 2nd graders will begin their swim journey this Thursday. We are so close to the lake and water safety is not just a good idea, it's a great way to keep our kids safe.

  5. Our 7th graders will also have a great opportunity this week to take our annual Chicago Opera field trip. We are grateful for the Lake Geneva Symphony Orchestra and their support of this field trip each year.

Have a great weekend Falcons and we look forward to seeing everyone Monday. Don't forget to pack and dress for the weather as we try and get outside as much a possible (above zero degrees).
