Hello Falcons!!
What an incredible week to celebrate and showcase our amazing school and community!! From the growing/expanding science fair to our second annual cereal collection contest, there is so much to be proud of here at Fontana! Here are FIVE things to know this week:
We started this past Thursday with 556 boxes of cereal, and because of our amazing families and community through multiple donations, we have now exceeded our goal of 800 boxes of cereal. Our final count is 847 boxes!!!! Did you know, the Walworth County Food Pantry and Diaper Bank hands out over 400 boxes of cereal a month to families that need support. Because of you, we helped support the food pantry in Walworth County for two full months!!
Our school is currently operating on a four year, non-recurring, operational referendum to support our small classroom sizes, technology and infrastructure, attracting and retaining high quality staff, and managing the ongoing rising costs annually. We will be having some open forum discussions at the Fontana library in the month of March to offer discussions, feedback, and collaboration as we seek another four year, non-recurring, referendum this April. Our first session will be this Wednesday, March 4th, from 12-1p at the Fontana Public Library. Come and enjoy some coffee and opportunity to discuss school finances with our administrator Steve Torrez.
Thank you to Mrs. Gutierrez and Mrs. Rabe for coordinating our annual STEAM Expo this past week. We had 20 local STEAM based vendors on display showcasing their technology and innovation along with our student science fair projects. So much to be proud of and thank you to our students, parent volunteers, community partners and staff that made this event so successful.
This Friday, March 6th, we have an early release for all 4k-8th grade students. All students are released at 11:45a for the weekend.
We are excited to offer some extension and additional opportunities this week. We will have some students attending an Academic Bowl at Williams Bay and another group of students attending a Big Foot Area Schools Choral Celebration. We are also proud to have some students attending the solo ensemble competition on Saturday, March 7th. Let's go Falcons!!
BONUS--Thank you to our generous PTSO for another successful "Hot Chocolate Friday" in February. The students look forward to those Friday's every year. Thank you!!
Have a great weekend Falcons and see you all Monday!!
