Hello Falcons!!
What a wonderful first week of school!! It is always an exciting time of year and we are so grateful for all of our families/students returning for another year of learning at Fontana. Week 1 is in the books and here are FIVE things to know this week:
The first week, or two, always brings adjustments with our drop off and pick up routines. Please know, our primary responsibility is safety, but the timing also improves as we all adjust to a new school year. Reminders--pull up as far as you can, but do not block the gravel pit driveway next to our parking lot at any time. Also, the gravel pit driveway is also not a place to turn around at any time. Our middle school students will be at the north end of the drive and our youngest students will be at the south end of the drive. If you have multiple children they will gather with the youngest child's location at dismissal. Please contact our office with any questions and remember safety is always our priority!
The first day of practice for cross country and flag football will be Tuesday, September 8th after school. All practices will be 3:30p to 4:45p each day. Mrs. Popp ([email protected]) is our CC coach and Mr. Jewell and Mr. Coombs are our flag football coaches. Mr. Hoey is our athletic director and can be contacted with any questions as well at [email protected].
Middle school students interested in being a part of the main cast of The Phantom of Fontana, can still audition on Tuesday, September 8th after school until 5 pm. Students in Kindergarten through 5th grade can be appear in the film by participating in Young Actors Day. The date for this has not yet been determined, but students and parents may participate by completing and returning this form. The YOUNG ACTORS PERMISSION FORM IS LINKED HERE.
Fontana is honored to be nominated and recognized by the Lake Geneva "Best of" in the categories of Best Daycare, Best Elementary, Best Middle School, and Best Teacher (Mrs. Bolly). Each school year our education team monitors progress of every student through our testing modules in IReady. Our fall testing will take place this coming week, September 9th through 11th. This provides a baseline of learning, areas of growth, and areas that may require additional support. Fontana does this benchmark testing 3 times/year and are an important part of our educational practices to allow adjustments, targeted/individualized support, and collaborative goal setting with our students.
