Hello Falcons!!
Apologies on the delayed Friday news as our writer was a little under the weather to end the week. Week five has gotten us into October and fall weather. Please have your Falcon dressed for all types of weather as we plan to be outside as much as possible during recess and other outdoor activities. Here are FIVE things to know this week:
Congratulations to our flag football team on finishing the season with a win at Duck Pond in the rain! As a staff we are always evaluating the safety and ability to play games pending weather adjustments. Thank you to all of the parents and staff for committing to finishing our season on Thursday in the rain. Many of our players and players on the other team reported how much fun they had in the mud and rain, which was celebrated with some mud sliding celebrations to end the game!
All of your students pictures are now available online. You can scan your students QR code or CLICK THE LINK HERE to locate your students pictures. You can order your pictures and yearbook online with our Sports Pics partners. Also, our picture retake day will be October 19th if you wish to explore that option. Please contact our office with any questions.
Don't miss our volleyball season opener on Tuesday, October 6th, when our girls face Sharon at home. Also, our Cross Country team will compete in Burlington on Wednesday, October 7th. Come out and cheer on our Falcon teams!!
We are super excited to host Yerkes and Prof. Brad Barlow on Thursday, October 8th. Through the Shapley Lecture Series and in partnership with Yerkes Observatory, we are excited to welcome Brad Barlow, an associate professor of physics and astronomy at the University of North Carolina, to our school on October 8th! Brad will be joined by one of his graduate students, Yerkes staff, and some of our community members to lead an engaging, hands-on Cosmic Carnival for our students.
This Friday, October 9th, is Fire Prevention Day, which we always look forward to partnering and learning together with the Fontana Fire Department each year! Additionally, Friday will also be our Young Actors Day for Film Club from 3:30p to 5pm.
BONUS PTSO--Mark your calendars for our PTSO annual Fall Fun Fest that will take place at Fontana School on Thursday, October 22nd. This annual fun includes the famous haunted house, cake walk, and so much more. This event supports our PTSO, our school, and includes so much for our community each year. Our PTSO is offering additional sponsorship opportunities this year with information linked below.
BONUS DAYCARE--We look forward to welcoming five new falcons to our daycare this Monday in our 2k (3) and 3k (2) classrooms!! As always, please reach out with any questions and thank you for your trust in school, daycare, and caring team!!
