Update

Hello Falcon Families,

We have finished our 20th week of school and we are heading into the coldest part of our school year.  Your Friday update is being delivered on Packer Sunday this week:) The good news is, despite the cold, the sunlight will slowly increase for the remainder of the school year!  Happy January and we look forward to a great third quarter.   Here are FIVE things to know this week.

  1. Our staff have been working hard each day to provide the best education for those in school as well as those in/out of school for different reasons.  We have extended our grading window to allow for thorough updates on student learning.  All second quarter grades will be available by February 5th.
  2. Please be sure your Falcon is dressed for the weather.  This includes a winter hat, gloves, snow pants, and jacket, especially for those spending more time playing in the snow.  If your Falcon needs any winter supplies, please contact Nikki Christensen, our social worker.  We have extra winter gear available.
  3. We are excited to welcome Ms. Monica Torres to our 4th grade teaching team.  She student taught with us from UW-Whitewater and is now finishing the school year teaching 4th grade.  This will allow Mrs. Lisa Popp to fully return to her role in special education.
  4. Looking ahead, the Wisconsin open enrollment window will open on February 1st, 2021.  We are excited to welcome all students to our school family and we look forward to continuing serve ALL students.  If you have any questions or if you need further information please contact our office and we are happy to help!
  5. Our elementary Falcons (2-5 grade) will be taking MAP benchmark testing this week.  Our K-1 Falcons take a similar Aimsweb benchmark that is also taking place this month.  Finally, our middle school Falcons will be completing MAP make-up tests this week.

We use MAP and Aimsweb benchmarks to monitor student learning, plan innovative lessons, and to differentiate to meet EVERY students academic needs.  HERE is a link to further explore why MAP makes a difference for Fontana's learning plans.  Have a great Sunday and we look forward to seeing you all tomorrow!
