Update

Hello Falcons,

Week 22 brought us some real winter weather. Thank you to all of our Falcon families for remaining safe and extra cautious in our pick up lines. Visibility and snow bring about an extra barrier to our arrival/dismissal times. February tends to bring about the most challenging winter weather. We thank you for your teamwork in keeping our children safe each day. Here are FIVE things to know this week.

  1. While the weather next week is supposed to be below zero, please have your Falcon dress in layers in the event we end up outside at any point. Our point of reference to stay indoor for recess is 0 degrees or below. We realize that not being outside causes extra challenges with our cohort/COVID model and our staff are working hard to find alternate/fun activities to get the students out of their classrooms and into alternate spaces (gym, cafeteria, any free building space) to move about.
  2. Freddy the Falcon made an appearance today at school. We are Falcon Proud at Fontana and bringing joy/excitement takes on different meanings. Be on the lookout for some fun Freddy pictures this weekend.
  3. We are excited to announce a Snowman Building Challenge this week. All staff, students, and Falcon Families are challenged with building their best snowman and sending a picture of your snowman to storrez@fontana.k12.wi.us. A generous donation for a Gino's East Pizza gift card will go to the winner on Monday February 15th. Get building and get creative and enjoy some family time outdoors.
  4. Our alerts and weather related updates are sent via email, text message, social media (Facebook), and our website. If you did not get an alert this past Tuesday, please contact our office to update your family information in our student database.
  5. We have not been able to offer many extracurricular activities this school year due to COVID restrictions, however, we are actively planning to offer a track season for our middle school Falcons this spring. More information coming soon, but we wanted to let families know we continue to actively look for ways to get our students involved.

Stay warm, stay safe Falcons. Don't forget, if you have any concerns related to COVID you can use our confidential COVID hotline (608) 728-7851 to report any testing, symptoms, or questions. Thank you.
