School update

Hello Falcons!!

Your week 16 Friday update is coming to you on Saturday!!  It has been a busy week of great fun and the week was extended into Saturday, and for good reason as our boys basketball team will be taking on Walworth for the league championship at 10am this morning.  Here are FIVE things to know this week:

  1. Our incredible PTSO and parent volunteers planned and executed an incredible Crafty Critters day this past Friday.  Some of the crafts made go back 30 years or more to create such a wonderful tradition that is cherished by many!
  2. Thank you to Mrs. Bagby (band) and Mr. Smith (music) for planning and hosting our first music concert in two years.  We are grateful to our school partners at Big Foot for allowing us to use the fabulous auditorium and thank you to all of the wonderful staff who volunteered to help and coordinate our students throughout the evening.  Additionally, our PTSO helped decorate the stage area in festive holiday fun!
  3. We are excited to start using our new heart rate monitors in middle school Physical Education Class.  Using an app to track their anaerobic activity our students are starting to make goals and track their effort/exercise practices during PE class.
  4. Did you know that Fontana has it's very own app that keeps you in the know?  Go to the app store and search Fontana J8 and you will be able to download our free app to get the newest information.  With the winter weather upon us, it's important to stay connected in the event we have delays, cancellations, and/or adjustments in our school day.  All emergency notifications and unexpected school updates will be shared on Facebook, our website, text message/phone, and on our app.   Please contact our office if you need help getting connected.
  5. Our Holiday hours will be as follows:  December 22nd is a non-attendance day for all and there is no school to kick off winter break.  Our school office will be open December 27th and 28th over the winter break from 7:30a to 4p.  Otherwise, we will all be taking the break to recharge and spend time with our families!

Thank you for another wonderful week of learning, connecting, and growing!  We are fortunate to have so many caring/engaged members of our school community.  Have a great weekend Falcons!
