School update

Hello Falcons!

Week 23 brought more cold winter weather, but we continue to get outside when we are able.  As a reminder, cold weather can be dangerous when students are waiting for long periods for the bus and other rides outside.  Please be mindful of any extended times outside during this cold spell!  Pictured is an English assignment by one of our wonderful 2nd grade students.  Here are FIVE things to know this week:

  1. We continue to focus on social skills, educating the whole child, and provide supports to our entire school community!  We provide a newsletter with different resources provided within the school and our community.  Please read the Updated Social Work Newsletter HERE
  2. Wednesday, February 2nd in a non-attendance day for students and will be a staff inservice day.  Our PTSO is offering a "Day Off Field Trip" to Timber Ridge in Lake Geneva at $15 per swimmer and $5 per chaperone (non-swimmer).  Students must be accompanied by an adult and there are no drop-offs.  This is reserved from 10a to 8p on February 2nd.  Fliers went home with all Falcons this past week.
  3. Teacher requested student conferences will be held this winter on February 17th from 4-8pm.  This is a slight change from our district calendar that listed conferences in March.  We would like to meet sooner to catch students that may need extra support and contact with parents in the near future.  While this is set up for teachers to reach out for our primary conference times, you are welcome to reach out with any concerns or meetings if you are in need.  Thank you.
  4. As a reminder, we offer a COVID hotline at our school at 608-728-7851.  This is monitored by Fontana staff and may not always be answered, but you can leave a message and your concern will be addressed.  Also, as a reminder, HERE is a link to our "test to stay" protocols and quarantine/isolation information.
  5. We recently had our Southern Lake Anthology contest, led by Mr. McCanna our art teacher.  We were able to submit 12 pieces of art and/or poetry/writing to the county wide contest and 5 of our 12 students have been selected to be published.  We look forward to celebrating and continuing to offer extended opportunities for our students.

Have a great weekend Falcons and stay warm.  With the Bears and Packers all tucked away for the season there is plenty to get outside and explore outside of football!  Be well.
