School update

Hello Falcons!!

Happy Friday and week 25 of the school year.  We are so excited to see your Falcon at school each week and we have been doing more and more mentoring between grade levels that has been so fun to watch.  Fontana is truly a family and we are thankful for our school community!  Here are FIVE things to know this week:

  1. We are adding wonderful opportunities to our Science Fair this year (Thursday February 24th). If you, or someone you know, works in a science/STEM field and would be interested in sharing your career/business, we would love to partner with you!! Email Mrs. Gutierrez agutierrez@fontana.k12.wi.us for more information/inquiries.
  2. This coming Friday, February 18th, is an early release day for all 4k-8th grade Falcons.  Dismissal is 11:20a.  Our Early Childhood Center (3k and younger) will operate as normal. This is a planned PD day for staff.
  3. The Open Enrollment Window for Wisconsin schools opens this Monday, February 7th, for the 22/23 school year. Mrs. Wendy Schanau is our open enrollment specialist and Mrs. Cathy Long and Mrs. Susan Ziganto are the registration supports for Fontana.  Please visit our website HERE for more information and never hesitate to contact our office for me details.
  4. We had our very first parent informational meeting for our 2023 Explorica trip to Costa Rica on Thursday.  This opportunity is available to all 22/23 school year 7th and 8th graders as an extension to our Spanish/Cultural class.  While this is not a required trip, we are excited to offer a way to extend beyond the classroom, learn about our world, and experience school and volunteerism in another country.  Please contact Mrs. Martinez (Rambatt) or Mr. Torrez with interest.  We hope to finalize our list of interested students by the end of February.
  5. Teacher requested student conferences will be held this winter on February 17th from 4-8pm. This is a slight change from our district calendar that listed conferences in March. We would like to meet sooner to catch students that may need extra support and contact with parents in the near future. While this is set up for teachers to reach out for our primary conference times, you are welcome to reach out with any concerns or meetings if you are in need. Thank you.

Have a great weekend Falcons and enjoy the Super Bowl Sunday Holiday!!
